I decided to vote for Barack Obama before he announced he was running for president. That is, I began telling people around me how, in a perfect U.S., he would be El Prez. Here we are, debating between apples and apples, in a way: HRC and BHO are, policy-wise, fairly similar.
But when you consider character, you suddenly realize what is so clearly at stake here. The two are very different. One practics Rovean politics (yes, Rove, as in Bush’s Brain Karl), the other displays the kind of moral courage we tend only to idealize in movies about The American President. For more on this — and why you really need to vote for Obama — see this.
Rock on, dude, Rock ON.

I couldn’t resist, that’s all. And it does seem like this year like democracy still works. Flagging, tenuous, and still somewhat superficial, but working all the same.
Speaking of democracy, I was watching one of the PM news shows on PBS and these two political analysts were discussing what could happen if the dems split the delegate count down the middle by the very end. One analyst actually said — and I AM SO NOT KIDDING — that if delegates and super-delegates tie Puerto Rico would vote for the tie-breaker.
So I’m not at all xenophobic or nativistic, but THIS WOULD REALLY PISS ME OFF.
Unless. Of course. They voted Obama.
